For the city of Dresden, the PORTRAITS Award has become an important and widely radiating exhibition project. The annual finalist exhibition, numerous accompanying events, guided tours, artist talks and – since 2017 – so-called satellite exhibitions, which are organized by smaller galleries and exhibition spaces and frame the main program, make the PORTRAITS Award the largest European competition for contemporary portrait photography.
